Teeth Whitening

Professional teeth whitening delivers results that over-the-counter products simply cannot match. We offer both in-chair and take-home treatments — tailored to your teeth and your lifestyle.

A brighter smile can make a real difference to how you feel about yourself. Professional teeth whitening at Karalee Family Dental is safe, effective, and far more predictable than store-bought whitening products — with results that are visible after just one visit.

Why have teeth whitened by a dentist?

Not all tooth discolouration responds to whitening treatment. Some staining is surface-level and responds well; other discolouration — caused by trauma, decay, or certain medications — may require a different approach. Before recommending whitening, we will assess your teeth to ensure it is the right treatment for your situation and that your results will be worthwhile.

Dentist-supervised whitening also uses a higher concentration of active ingredients than products available in pharmacies, delivering more dramatic and longer-lasting results while keeping your gums protected.

In-chair teeth whitening

Our in-chair whitening treatment uses the Pola system, which can lighten teeth by up to eight shades in a single appointment. Here is how it works:

  1. Your dentist carefully applies the Pola active gel, protecting your gums and soft tissues throughout.
  2. A light activates the whitening gel, accelerating the brightening process while you relax in the chair.
  3. The full treatment takes approximately 30 minutes — you leave with visibly whiter teeth the same day.

Take-home whitening kits

If you prefer to whiten at home, or want to maintain your results between in-chair treatments, our take-home whitening kits are an excellent option. Custom-fitted trays are made from impressions of your teeth, ensuring the gel stays where it should. The lower-concentration formula is safe for daily use and produces gradual, natural-looking results over one to two weeks.

Our team will explain the process clearly and tailor the whitening solution strength to your individual needs.

A note on whitening and veneers

Teeth whitening does not affect porcelain veneers, crowns, or composite bonding — only natural tooth enamel responds to bleaching agents. If you have existing restorations in your smile zone, we will discuss what to expect and how to best plan your treatment. Learn more about porcelain veneers.
