    Can You Reverse Cavities Naturally?

    Can You Reverse Cavities Naturally?

For some, a trip to the dentist spells disaster. People are often scared of dental visits because they fear being told that there is some dental work that needs to be done – teeth to be removed and cavities that need to be filled.

If you have a cavity, you might think that the only way it will ever be solved is with a trip to the dentist. After all, once you have a cavity, there’s no way of getting rid of it by yourself, right?

Wrong! It’s a little known fact that some cavities can in fact be reversed – all by the powers of a good diet. A study was held that split over 60 candidates into three groups that were given different diets to follow. Group One wound up with even more cavities than when they started, Group Two saw a few improvements, but Group Three ended the study with nearly all of their cavities healed.

So, what is this miracle, cavity-healing diet? We’ll tell you.

    Avoid Grains and Starches

In scientific terms, grains, seeds, nuts, and beans are foods that contain something called phytic acid, and in short, phytic acid isn’t your friend. It blocks minerals from entering your body and can even remove your bodies pre-existing minerals.

All this to say, if your diet is too heavy in grains and starchy foods, you’re stopping your body and mouth from getting the minerals it needs to stay healthy.

Go for Fruit, Veg, Meat, and Dairy

All of these food groups can contribute significantly to your dental health – and to reversing your cavities. Raw dairy is chock full of the vitamins and minerals that make your body feel good, while animal meat, leafy green veggies, and fresh fruit are all loaded with calcium, vitamin K2, and vitamin D3 – which all work to make your teeth strong and healthy.

While remembering to add these foods to your diet, remember to also cut out packaged and processed foods, excess sugar, and fast food – they’ll only have a negative impact on your teeth!

    Add Some Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a great way to help your teeth as it regulates your body’s balance of calcium, and also promotes the absorption of calcium into your body. Not only that, it can also help to decrease any inflammation in the gums, helping to fight against gum disease.

While Vitamin D supplements are available, natural sources include natural sunlight, dairy, eggs, and oily fish.

    Try Mineralizing Toothpaste

When your tooth enamel doesn’t have enough minerals in it, it is vulnerable to decay. Mineralizing toothpaste works to replace the lost minerals and strengthen your enamel – protecting you against tooth decay. While toothpaste alone will not be able to reverse cavities, it can prevent them reappearing in the future.

If you’re unsure which toothpaste is the best for you, talk to your dentist during your next appointment.

While the above points are all great ways to keep your teeth healthy and strong, and may help to reverse your cavities, it isn’t a guarantee, and no matter how good your diet is, it shouldn’t replace a visit to the dentist.
